Blood drives
Oklahoma Blood Institute is encouraging donors to rise up and give! Blood donors will receive a free, limited edition t-shirt. Individuals aged sixteen and up are urged to give blood at one of these locations: Feb. 23, Walmart Cushing, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Cleveland - 2/11/2021: 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., First Christian Church, 100 S. Scholarships
The Oklahoma Scholarship Competition provides an opportunity for Oklahoma high school students to earn much-needed funds for college. With at least ten $1,000 cash scholarships/tuition grants in each of Oklahoma’s 77 counties, students in grades 9 through 12 must register by Friday, February 26 deadline to participate. The online examination will be accessible Friday, March 5th through Sunday, March 14th with content coming primarily from state-adopted Oklahoma History textbooks. Students must be preregistered at oklahomahof.com by Friday, February 26th to participate.
Cushing- The library has moved to a new library catalog system which offers new features and easier navigation.
The library is operating Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cushing- GED Classes
GED Classes are being offered every Monday, from 4-9 p.m., in room 18 of Cushing High School. Call Linda Manning (918) 346-7172, for more information.
Yale - The American Legion Post 161 in Yale is seeking military Veterans from any branch of the service, who live in the Yale area to join the American Legion Post. Interested individuals can call (918) 399-3417.
Creek County- The Creek County Democratic Party is continuing its scholarship program. The scholarship competition is open to all graduating seniors who 1) are residents of Creek County and 2) are either registered Democrats or have at least one parent or guardian who is a registered Democrat in Creek County, Oklahoma. Public school, private school, or homeschooled students are welcome to apply. The scholarships can be used at any accredited trade school, vocational school, or institution of higher education. Details are available on our Facebook page, Creek County Democrats. Applications can be obtained by emailing CreekCountyDemocratScholarship@gmail. com, or by calling Lynne Belcher at 918-247-6674. Applications are also available from all county high school counselors. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2021, to be considered. The awards will be presented in April.

COVID-19 Basketball protocols -- Along with protocols already in place, school districts hosting sports at indoor facilities throughout the Cimarron Valley are complying with Governor Kevin Stitt’s executive order intended to limit attendance to indoor activities in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
In accordance with the order, participants in events such as basketball or wrestling will be issued four (4) vouchers for each home event one day prior to the contest. Any spectator (adult or student) attending an indoor event must present a voucher when purchasing a ticket for entry. This without vouchers will not be allowed entry.
