Loyd Ernst “Coach” age 88 died October 4, 2020, with his wife Linda at his side. He was born July 16, 1932 in Kellyville, Oklahoma, son of the late Ted and Lela McIntire Ernst.

Loyd graduated Drumright High School 1950. He earned football scholarships to Bacone and Southeastern State College, receiving his B.A. degree in 1954. He was selected Bacone College Outstanding Athlete in 1952 and 1954 All Conference at Southeastern State College’

His teaching career began in 1955 at Madill Junior High, Drumright High 1956, served in U.S. Army 1957-1959, returned to Drumright 1960, teaching 31 years Industrial Arts, Drafting, Woodworking and Construction. Loyd especially enjoyed coaching.

He was proud of all his players, with 1963-1964 a very special memory of the State Playoff time. In 1964, he completed his Master’s Degree from Oklahoma State University.

After retiring in 1991, he loved collections of wide variety, gardening, woodworking, golfing, coffee at Jo’s and Whistlestop, casino slots, hunting and fishing. Fishing inspired him to design and patent Fishing Rod Anchor (holder) in 2001.

A Christian man, he expressed that his two families were his special blessings from God. Loyd and Patsy Kincade Ernst were married December 31, 1955. They had four children. On June 17, 1996, with his marriage to Linda Culbreath Gregory, he extended his family with four more children.

He is survived by his wife and children, Sue Jack and husband, Michael, Littleton, Colorado, Jay Ernst and wife, Lisa, Meeker, Oklahoma, Kay Sciullo and husband, Fil, Butler, Pennsylvania, Dustin Gregory, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Amon Gregory and wife, Shivonne, Drumright, Oklahoma, Karmen Haley and husband, Luke, Bixby, Oklahoma, Tiney Holyfield and husband, B.J., Tulsa, Oklahoma,; grandchildren, Gabrielle Jack, Isabelle Jack, Shannon Seale and husband, Tony, Ashley Gray and husband , Preston, Dana Towle and husband, Taylor, Anthony Sciullo, Brooks, Cole and Cody Gregory, Lillian, Layton and Lyla Haley and Alice Holyfield; great-grandchildren, Boone and Hank Gray.

Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pauline Weeks; brothers, John Thomas Ernst and Dale Ernst and one son, Craig Eugene Ernst.

Loyd was very appreciative of all the parents, teachers, businesses, students, friends and family for all the precious memories during his lifetime. They were his thoughts and “prayers that I have been an influence in leading someone to Christ. Family Celebration of Life at future date.
