Stephen Jay Martin
Stephen Jay Martin, passed from this life on November 9, 2020.
He was born on April 24th, 1952 in Yale, Ok to Patrick “Nolan” Martin and Norma “Jean” (Ross)
Martin. He was raised in Yale, Ok by his grandparents Jack and Freda Ross.
Stephen graduated from Yale High School in 1972. He then went on to join the US Air Force.
After leaving the Airforce Stephen went on to earn degrees from OSU, UCO, Northeastern
Oklahoma A&M College, and ultimately gained his master’s in nursing from University of
Phoenix.
Stephen lived in Oklahoma City for 25 years before retiring from St. Anthony Hospital and
moving to Drumright to be closer to his family.
Those who loved Stephen the most will remember him for his love of dogs, his love of reading,
his love for old black and white movies, and most of all for the weekly thrift shopping trip he took with his sister Jan which they both always looked forward to.
Stephen is survived by sister Jan Straessle and husband Terry, niece Ariane Pierce and husband Jason, niece Courtney Martin, niece Lacie Martin, Danny Yancy, cousins Tim Burger,
Jill Burger, Kay Blank, Teresa Cox, David Mann, Ronny Cargill, Donny Cargill, and Mike Cargill
along with numerous friends, family, and acquaintances who loved him dearly.
Stephen is preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Freda Ross, parents Patrick
“Nolan” Martin and Norma “Jean” Ross, sister Terri Sue Brace, cousin Paul Burger, and joined
in death by his beloved dogs.
